Causes of SVT

PSVT may occur in association with a few other medical conditions, such as heart failure, hardening of arteries, chronic lung disease, thyroid disease, pericarditis, pneumonia, blood clots or pulmonary emboli invading the lung arteries from other places in the body, substance and alcohol abuse, specific medications such as digitalis, cold remedies and asthma medications, smoking, intake of too much tea, coffee or soft drinks, structural abnormalities of the body such as Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome during which an extra tissue creates abnormal electric circuits, and emotional stress.
